Rich Mix

Chisara Agor grew up in London, Peckham and is of Jamaican and Nigerian heritage. She began her music career in Madrid, Spain during her year abroad studying philosophy. Building up a loyal underground following. The recording and promotion of her EP Seasons was funded by busking relentlessly on the streets of Madrid with percussionist Christian- Garcia Fonsecher. She launched her EP at jazz club Sala Clamores with a live session on Radio Nacional Espana.  Upon her return to the UK she continued her success into the arts  including music, theatre and writing. Her latest releases have featured on BBC Radio London, Radio 6 and Radio Nacional España. She has performed in venues such as Southwark Playhouse, Southbank Centre, Jazz cafe London and The Roundhouse. Most recently she supported grammy award winning folk singer-songwriter Anais Mitchel at In the Round (The Roundhouse).

As an inter-disciplinary artist Chisara has written music for theatre, choreographed for film and has been commissioned by organisations such as Musicity Global, Spitalfields Music, In-Between Time Summit and MAIA. Currently a resident of the renowned Roundhouse her work centres around visual performance, songwriting and composition/writing. In her local area she also facilitates workshops with young people including tap dance and drama at Theatre Peckham and Mountivew Academy of the arts.

Chisara wishes for her practice to engage with the world and yet sometimes be an escape from it. This is why running through her work is this sense of introspection, social awareness and philosophy. She is an awardee of the MGCFutures Bursary to develop her new musical The Garden which seeks to shed a light on the necessity of social housing through the eyes of a young girl and is currently composing music for Tian Glasgows' new Afro-futurist play Tomorrow Is Not Promised.

Chisara holds a Bachelors degree from The University of Essex in Philosophy and Modern Languages, she also holds an Masters in Philosophy and Art History from the same institution specialising in contemporary critical theory. She studied abroad at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2014 to study philosophy.
